Florence and the Machine (ou Florence + the Machine) est le nom de scène de Florence Welch en collaboration avec d'autres musiciens. Musicalement, on classe cet artiste dans la catégorie soul et indie. Florence and The Machine a été très bien accueilli par les médias britanniques, surtout par la BBC. Le premier album, Lungs est resté numéro 2 (derrière Michael Jackson) dans les charts pendant 5 semaines et il a été le vainqueur du BRIT Award 2009 dans la catégorie Critics' Choice. Selon le magazine américain Rolling Stone, la musique de Florence and The Machine évoque à la fois la pop anglaise de Kate Bush, Siouxsie and the Banshees et PJ Harvey mais aussi la soul de la période Motown.
