Kenny Wayne Shepherd (né Kenny Wayne Brobst) est un chanteur guitariste américain de  Rock blues. En 1995, à 18 ans, il enregistre son premier album, Ledbetter Heights qui se classa 1e dans les charts blues du billboard et y séjournera 97 semaines. Considéré comme un surdoué du blues, grand fan de Fender Stratocaster, il cite parmi les guitaristes qui l'ont influencé des pointures qui ont pour nom, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray, Duane Allman où Slash.

Gov't Mule (abréviation de Government Mule) est un groupe de musique américain (jam band), à fortes influences de Southern Rock, blues rock mais aussi de rythm’n'blues, fondé en 1994 par Warren Haynes (guitar & vocal), Allen Woody (bass)(décède d'une overdose d'héroïne en 2000) et Matt Abts (Grammy Award-nominated American drummer). Le groupe était à l'origine uniquement un projet parallèle pour Warren Haynes (il a d’ailleurs été désigné par le magazine Rolling Stone comme étant l’un des meilleurs guitaristes au monde), et Allen Woody, tous deux membres du Allman Brothers Band, qui désirent monter un jam band et un power trio.
