Mark Knopfler est un auteur, compositeur, guitariste et chanteur britannique, de Glasgow, aujourd’hui une référence mondiale en tant que guitariste et artiste à part entière. Fondateur en 1977, avec son frère David, du groupe mythique Dire Straits, qui fut à l’origine de tubes et albums désormais cultes comme Sultans Of Swing, Love Over Gold, Alchemy et, surtout, Brothers In Arms. En 1991, le groupe se dissout et l’artiste se lance dans une carrière solo. Ses mélodies sont particulièrement fines et adaptées à son style de guitare très aérien, un style blues-country-rock mêlant le phrasé de Bob Dylan à l’élégante décontraction de J.J. Cale. Influencé notamment par J.J. Cale et Chet Atkins, Hank Marvin des Shadows. Après huit albums solos, huit bandes originales de film et de nombreuses collaborations, le guitar-hero sort en  2009 son dernier opus Get Lucky.

Bob Dylan (Robert Allen Zimmerman) est un musicien et auteur-compositeur-interprète américain dont le style musical a évolué au fil des années : rock, folk, country, blues sont les exemples de la diversité de son œuvre. Depuis ses débuts dans les années 1960, Dylan a, par ses textes et par sa recherche de voies nouvelles (à l’encontre de son public parfois), sensiblement marqué la culture musicale contemporaine.

Blonde on Blonde est le, premier double album de l’histoire du rock (1966). Voix et musique s’y fondent pour nous raconter toutes les dernières expériences de Dylan, vécues et rêvées, dans une ode à l’amour sous toutes ses formes, de la mère à la prostituée, en passant par l’amour illusoire que donne la drogue. Dylan est au sommet du monde, vibrant intérieurement de mille sensations étranges, et fait partager ses expériences dans cet album si surréaliste qu’il est difficile de le décrire. Un chef d’œuvre hors du temps qui fait de Dylan la locomotive du rock and roll.

Dylan classique ou moderne ? Près d' un demi-siècle après son arrivée à New York, le barde énigmatique de Duluth n'en finit toujours pas de faire parler de lui.
